WHO ARE THEY AND HOW WERE WE INVOLVED

SuperHeroStuff

Brief

The inclusion of this website is a little….odd. Why? Because Amity Digital didn’t have anything to do with it. Why is it listed on our site? Well, the founder of Amity Digital used to own it. Brian Welch, the President of Amity Digital, was one of three owners responsible for running SuperHeroStuff.com – its legacy began in September, 2007, and ended in August, 2018, when it was sold to another ecommerce company. As Amity Digital employs quite a few folks from SuperHeroStuff, it seemed natural to include one of our biggest online achievements on our portfolio page.

Deliverables

While not technically an Amity Digital project, some of the people that were responsible for designing, maintaining, operating, and marketing SuperHeroStuff are also the people that started Amity Digital.

We bought SuperHeroStuff from its founder in 2007 — it was the first superhero store on the Internet (founded in 1999). When we took it over, there was a lot of room for improvement. It was a completely static website, poorly designed, and difficult to manage.

Our first task was to move it to a new platform and give the entire website an overhaul. Over the years, SuperHeroStuff underwent many design changes in order to keep up with business trends and emerging technologies. Our main office and warehouse were in Sinking Spring, PA, where we did all of the day to day website management, design, marketing, social media, customer service, cataloging and fulfillment. It was here that many of us honed our skills and gained the necessary knowledge to help our clients.

Results

When we purchased SuperHeroStuff back in 2007, the website was generating $200K a year and boasted one employee. This extremely overworked fellow operated out of a small, second-story space in Portland, OR. We moved the operation to PA and grew it to a company with 35 employees – a company encompassing 15,000 square feet of warehouse space and making 8 figures in annual revenue.
